HIGH STABILITY, PRODUCTIVITY, SPEED, FLEXIBILITY AND ACCURACY WITH LATEST DECKEL MAHO DMF260 LINEAR MACHINING CENTRE |
The latest generation of travelling column machining centre from DMG, the Deckel Maho DMF 260 Linear, is not only designed for high levels of productivity, but also to provide greater production flexibility. It has the inherent stability of a mineral-composite bed, a high speed rapid traverse rate of 80 m/min to its swivelling spindle, which is derived from the use of linear drives to cover the 2,600 mm X-axis and 700 mm in Y and Z-axes. The machine is also able to maintain positioning to 10 microns.
Now available from DMG (UK) of Luton, the flexible configuration of the DMF 260 Linear provides a wide range of options for its use. For instance, the 2,600 mm by 700 mm fixed table area can be used for components as well as the fully integrated, 700 mm diameter NC rotary table, to provide full, five-sided access to a part.
An important benefit of the large table and integrated C-axis rotary unit is that they can both be used to accommodate the same component for, say, datum face machining prior to being loaded to the rotary table. Alternatively, simultaneous production of entirely different parts cane be utilised, for instance, while the one is being loaded. In addition, it is also possible to mount a second NC rotary table alongside the first to provide a highly productive pendulum machining operation, each having a five-axis and five-face machining potential.
Servicing the table is a B-axis, swivelling milling head providing ¡À100¡ã of rotary motion to the SK40 spindle which is powered by a 23.5 kW motor delivering 14,000 revs/min as standard or 18,000 revs/min as an option. There is a choice of 30, 60 or 120 tool pockets in the new ¡®guide-along¡¯ magazine design giving fast chip-to-chip times of under five seconds. Each pocket in the magazine is able to support tools up to 300 mm in length and 80 mm diameter or 130 mm diameter, with the adjacent position vacant. Tool measurement via Blum-Laser/TT140 is also an option.
The machine features the latest DMG ¡®branded¡¯ guard design with two large, slide-aside doors giving both a good operator view and excellent access to the table area. As part of the guarding system, overhead clearance accommodates the use of a crane for manipulating large and heavy components or fixtures. Indeed, this is confirmed by the maximum table loading of 2.1 tonnes.
DMG¡¯s highly praised ERGOline control with 19¡± screen is included with a choice of either Siemens 840D solution line including ShopMill Open or Heidenhain iTNC 530 with SmarT.NC.
